A Great Start
Don't let the cheesy cover art fool you. This is a great first series from Brent Weeks. I checked out the first book based on a suggestion from Goodreads and was hooked from there. The story flows well with few slow spots. Mr Weeks followed up this series with the so far great Lightbringer series, which I would also suggest.
